Hiring Company is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Hiring Company inventory management engineering team as we expand engineering capacity. Our market-leading RFID-based solution reduces restocking and pharmacy errors and helps hospitals automate inventory control and save money by reducing waste and decreasing costs.
As the team’s Staff Engineer, you will lead the design and execution of key projects. You’ll work with webapps, hardware, scanning stations, and design integrations with APIs and third-party systems.
Staff Software Engineers have experience building scalable production applications, working across the technical stack, and owning the entire lifecycle of feature development.

Staff Software Engineers have experience building scalable production applications, working across the technical stack, and owning the entire lifecycle of feature development.
You Can Expect To Do
- Work with QA and the UX team to build a best-in-class, well-tested user experience
- Periodically work with customers to hear new feature requests and contribute to solving problems
- Collaborate with team members to design and build high-scale fault-tolerant systems to support the product
- Be a key team member in our agile, two-week sprint process managed by JIRA
- Participate and lead code reviews
- Mentor junior developers
- 10+ years in a Software Engineer role
- 7+ years Ruby on Rails experience with comfort in one other back-end language
- Technical leadership experience
- Extensive experience with relational databases, including database design, data modeling, and SQLExperience with AWS services
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent work experience
- History of building production applications and depth of experience to lead architecture discussions and decisions
- Understanding of software engineering best practices (code reviews, source control, build processes, unit testing, etc.)
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or teaching other engineers
- Sense of ownership in your work
- Empathy with your coworkers and our customers
- Experience working in remote teams
- Front-end development experience (Angular/React)
- Experience with HIPPA or other data-sensitive environments
