What you’ll do

As a Software Development Engineer in Test and a member of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning team in the R&D Advanced Analytics division at SAS, you will be responsible for software testing activities throughout the software release cycle for the SAS Visual Text Analytics product.

Your primary focus will be developing self-verifying, fully automated tests to validate REST APIs and product workflows. This effort will require working closely with development and test peers to devise a thorough test approach for new and existing requirements.

You will:

• Create and maintain the highest quality of test automation that fails fast, uses modern development techniques, and provide key data points to support metrics-based decision making.
• Apply automated tests at every layer of the application stack, both inside and outside of the continuous delivery pipeline.
• Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to encourage quality, as a key design element in all work efforts.
• Share your creativity by leading effective exploratory testing sessions.
• Work with your team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.
• Challenge the status quo every day and never stop improving our quality engineering practices.
• Take an active and engaged role in code reviews for product, test, and infrastructure code.
• Partner with Development to design and execute effective testing strategies.
• Maintain an awareness of and research new technologies, trends, architectures, and implementation techniques as they relate to the delivery of applications, integrations, and data in CI/CD.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of enterprise experience in Automated Testing with demonstrated proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, Groovy, or Python
• You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
• You’re adaptable, a continuous learner who seeks out opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and enjoys solving challenging problems.
• You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
• Experience with web based microservices and REST interfaces
• Experience with test automation frameworks
• Proficiency with source control management techniques (Git) including branching, code review, and merging.
• Experience with CI/CD build tools such as Jenkins, Maven or Gradle
• Exposure to container and container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
