SSI is looking for a Systems Engineer - Power and Thermal Budgets. In this role you will be responsible for preventing surprises between various spaceflight systems that require power and/or thermal management - this role works closely across elements and subsystems (including C&DH, GNC, EPS, etc.) and will own the Power Equipment List (PEL). You’ll maintain system budgets, identify risks and opportunities, present to subsystem leads, and assist in subsystem-level and configuration-level trades. The role will require experience with spacecraft electrical power and thermal subsystems.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with spacecraft electrical power and thermal subsystems
  • Understanding of several of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering
  • Ability to use engineering skills used to design, develop, and evaluate systems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Guide the completion and primarily support the Space Mobility program area
  • Maintain system budgets, identify risks and opportunities, present to subsystem leads, and assist in subsystem-level and configuration-level trades for the power and thermal management subsystems
  • Develop and own the Power Equipment List (PEL) and associated analyses, budgets, timelines and hardware limitations
  • Work closely across elements and subsystems (including C&DH, GNC, EPS, etc.)
  • Apply frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Work with colleagues and customers to follow Blue Origin and program-specific procedures and standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful candidates typically have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • M.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
