THE POSITION**

In support of a high-growth mandate, we’re hiring for the position of Manager, Engineering to lead a high-performing software development team composed of front-end and back-end developers. In this position, you will work closely with Product and UX to define and deliver key growth initiatives on our web and mobile applications. You will coach team members, support them in their career growth, and provide timely feedback. Your efforts will ensure that the team is consistently performing at their highest level.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, this is a key leadership position at Maple. When you are not caring for the well-being of your team, you are writing, reviewing, and deploying production-ready code following industry best practices. We deploy continuously and value well-tested code. We also care deeply about product quality, platform security, and accessibility.

Your leadership, adeptness in continuous deployment and testing, and talent for clear communication and feedback will be the driving forces behind sustaining a high-performing team during high-pressure situations. Your experience in product-focused environments with an emphasis on scalability will enable us to continue to effectively serve millions of users while also elevating our product excellence and ability to meet our ambitious high-growth objectives.

12 – 18 MONTH DELIVERABLES**

To realize the company’s growth mandate, within the first 90 days, you will immerse yourself in our technical environment while getting to know your team members and their strengths. You will assess the current projects, workflows, and development practices, identifying areas for improvement.

In the next 12 to 18 months, you will continue to lead and empower your team to achieve new heights, ensuring they are motivated, well-coached, and consistently delivering exceptional results. Collaborating closely with Product and UX teams, you will drive the delivery of key growth initiatives, enhancing our product quality and user experience. Additionally, you will optimize our development processes, focusing on continuous deployment and testing, with an unwavering commitment to code quality and industry best practices.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of senior-level software development experience on either the front-end or the back-end, paired with 2+ years of leadership experience managing small to medium-sized teams of developers.
  • The ideal candidate exhibits proficiency in agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban with a demonstrated history of contributing to the effective implementation of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • The ideal candidate has experience with high-growth product-focused startups or scaleups with a demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic and rapidly evolving settings.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written, the candidate has the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and provide constructive feedback to maintain effective team communication and collaboration.
