SOFTWARE ENGINEER OVERVIEW (flex in NY Metro or fully remote if you live outside of NY Metro*):

Operative is searching for an Engineer for their Solutions Engineering Team, which is responsible for connecting hundreds of data sources and ingesting millions of rows of data. You will be part of a team that is responsible for driving a powerful platform that automates reporting and unifies marketing performance data across the ad technology stack for publishers, tech platforms, and others by automating the collection of delivery data from over 400 integrations.

As part of the Solutions Engineering Team, you will write and maintain code that ensures that our customers can get their data as early and as accurately as possible. You will play a key role in developing, designing, and maintaining the code that retrieves the data as well as have an opportunity to impact the infrastructure that marshals and coordinates data collection.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Designing and developing key pieces of our technology stack
• Participating in planning for future requirements and implementation of customer defined data requests
• Communicating and collaborating with other engineering and non-technical business teams to plan, design, implement, and support integrations
• Monitoring, tuning, and fixing faults to improve performance and stability
• Staying current on the latest technologies, strategies, and products in data storage and processing tools and technology

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong command of an object oriented programming language, such as Ruby, Python, or Java.
• Experience with Git or another version control system.
• Excellent problem solving skills. For instance, the ability to understand API documentation and determine how to pull the correct data from the API.
• Solid written and verbal communications skills.
• Exposure to GCP/AWS/cloud technologies is not required but is a plus.
• Desire to learn Apache NiFi - familiarity with NiFi is a bonus!

*If you live w/in the metro NYC area, there is a flex policy of 1 day per 2 weeks in our Manhattan office. If you live outside of the NYC metro area, the role will be fully remote.
