JOB DESCRIPTION *

Remote work may be available. Provide support for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Internet/Intranet websites in support of the Human Resources Office (HRO) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mission. The candidate will learn how the Web team operates and CDC Web standards and policies, and will learn and work within the constraints and restrictions of OMB’s rules and regulations and CDC’s web template.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop interactive web database applications used for storing, reporting on and measuring/evaluating data use by HRO program functions which include web applications used to disseminate information to HRO customers. Participate in the development of new HRO specific web pages, as well as transferring existing web pages to .NET technology.
  • Utilize SQL database expertise on the back-end and possess HTML/portal technology skills.
  • Provide expertise and services for automating, managing, and evaluating web-based pages, publications, multimedia, databases, systems, and applications.
  • Work with server side application developers and designers to build web applications.
  • Develop front-end web pages using XIITML, CSS, XSLT, and JavaScript.
  • Develop website content with HTML/XHTML. Dynamic HTML, Java, CSS.
  • Utilize Adobe Acrobat Professional, Photoshop, Flash and other software as needed; and
  • Active Server Pages (ASP).
  • Develop front-end web pages using HTML, XML, CSS, XSLT, JavaScript or other appropriate platforms.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of internet/intranet websites using established WC3 and federal web best practices.
  • Quickly learn and adhere to CDC web development policies, standards, best practices and guidance.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance of web metrics code using Adobe SiteCatalyst.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing.
  • Update documents and links as needed, and ensure Section 508 compliance.
  • Provide responsive service while working within the constraints and restrictions of OMB’s rules and regulations and CDC’s web template.
  • Continually review and improve products and interfaces.
  • Interact with customers and business partners when developing interfaces.
  • Work closely with communications team members and customers to research and troubleshoot issues.
  • Document product status weekly or as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems identified by users and communicate the solutions and program changes with HRO staff.
  • Perform periodic quality control checks of HRO web sites.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors’ degree or similar work experience or certifications may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Access. Java, CSS, MS SQL, ASP, interface and link SQL services to web-based applications (ASP) and database management best practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office tools, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Site Catalyst, Adobe Photoshop, Beyond Compare, and Visio. Knowledge of WordPress, Percussion Rhythmyx, and/or Accenture also desirable.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it applies to digital media and products. All development is performed in accordance with section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and assures all web pages and applications are accessible as mandated by the federal government.
  • Must be able to obtain Government Clearance. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) or U.S. Citizenship required.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Demonstrate familiarity and proficiency with MS Office products including VISIO.
  • Apply knowledge of Web publishing processes and schemes as needed.
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks successfully.
  • Ability to work closely under the direction of a lead or project officer.
  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, flexible, deadline-driven, government environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
