Rancho Biosciences is seeking a bioinformatics scientist with experience in software development and complex genomic workflows. Work from home while supporting high impact pharmaceutical, academic and institutional science programs. A proven track record of collaborative and independent contributions to human genomic, transcriptomic and clinical data projects is strongly preferred. A broad working knowledge of modern software engineering practices (including CI/CD and software containerization) and best practice methods is critical. Requirements**

• Ms or PhD in Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Data science, or related field
• Experience creating and running complex (bioinformatics) workflows on a variety of platforms, with an emphasis on cloud environments (e.g. AWS, GPC, SevenBridges).
• Experience with workflow software such as Nextflow and/or Cromwell/WDL (preferred), CWL, or Snakemake.
• Experience in workflow and software containerization for deployment on cloud environments
• Have successfully implemented projects through the full software life cycle (planning, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance)
• Proficiency in scripting (R, Python, and Bash)
• Amazing communication skills and attention to detail are a must
• Drive to learn new analysis methodologies and tools
• Independently driven and hard working

Desired Experience**

• Hands-on experience with NGS data and demonstrated expertise in a relevant topic is strongly desired.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry in deadline-driven environments.
