We're looking for an experienced Front End Software Engineer who is excited to build responsive and elegant web applications that will support language learners around the globe.

In this role you will:

Mid-Level

• Collaborate with the founding team to build modern web applications that help our students achieve their learning goals
• Maintain high engineering standards for application design, code quality, and communication
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Focus on overall product quality and user experience
• Collaborate with teams across Immerse to build great new technology for our users
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve front end codebase
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
• Organize documenting and maintenance of software functionality

Senior Level

• All bullet points listed under mid-level front end engineer plus,
• Mentor junior software engineers
• Contribute creatively by being involved in the discovery and design process, proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions
• Participate in technical scoping of upcoming product epics
• Advise on key technology decisions

We are looking for some with:

Mid-Level

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• 3+ years combined professional experience building responsive production-grade web applications
• Mastery of front end technologies/languages such as JavaScript, React, Next.js, TypeScript other modern frameworks
• Mastery in integrating with APIs
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with Front End and Back End Engineers, Product Designers, and Product Managers
• Deep understanding of front end architecture and data-driven development
• At least 1 year successful experience in a startup or smaller, entrepreneurial, fast-growth organization
• Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments
• A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

Senior Level

• All bullet points listed under mid-level front end engineer plus,
• 5+ years combined professional experience building responsive production-grade web applications (in place of 3+ years as a mid-level engineer)
• 3+ years experience writing production distributed systems or cloud services
• Experience with relational database/storage technology (i.e., PostgreSQL etc.)
• Proven track record being technical lead of software projects
• Experience leading a team
• Production level experience developing in Python

Bonus points if you also have:

• Experience in Ed Tech industry
• Experience with Virtual Reality
• Experience growing teams, especially at startups
• Experience working on a live online service

Remote Work Details:

• Must be available for collaboration between 9AM-3PM PST
• Must have access to a distraction free, quiet space during work hours
