What You’ll Do

You will become a part of a diverse, Agile, cross-functional team whose goal is to change the future of career education. We are distributed all over the US as well as in Latin and Southern America from Mexico to Brazil and we follow Scrum ceremonies like weekly Grooming, bi-weekly Sprint Planning, and Daily Stand-ups.

As the key technical leadership person when it comes to our frontend, you'll own every aspect of code quality in the web presentation layer across a small team of FEs while identifying opportunities to improve our processes from how we deploy to how we gauge performance to how we monitor and employ CI/CD paradigms.

You'll be hands-on implementing as well as providing thought-leadership for additional functionality to our web application, implementing efficient / reusable functional React along with latest React APIs. You'll work closely with other Tech Leads as well as an Engineering Manager and a Product Manager to deliver for the company's key platform initiative.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in JavaScript

• Excellent skills in:

• functional React (e.g. Hooks) & React Router

• Material UI, Flexbox, Grid

• Git

• HTML, CSS

• Managed and maintained production level code

• Proficient in writing unit and integration tests

• Knowledgeable in CSS-in-JS/Styled Components and responsive layouts

• Communicates effectively (Fluent in English)

• Passionate about the product and the education space

• Open-minded and always learning

• Able to come up with creative solutions for software limitations

• Able to identify gaps and limitations of the development process

• Be familiar with monitoring and continuous integration tools

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Promises/Async Await
• Jest and React Testing Library
• Up to date with latest ECMAScript features, TypeScript
• Experience with CSS Frameworks, CSS preprocessors (ex. SASS, LASS etc.) or CSS-in-JS solutions (e.g. JSS, styled-components, etc.)
• Previous experience as a full-stack engineer

Projects We've Worked On

• Upgraded the infrastructure of our Assessments management system
• Developed a new feature for tracking, analyzing and comparing instructors’/teachers’ time
• Started a conversion project that utilizes our integration systems to translate student activity to time attended and sync it with the appropriate systems
• Redesigned our entire mobile application
• Added functionality to our attendance feature where the students account for their time.
• Upgraded our site management system to add contacts and send reports for third party users
