Adaptivestack Technologies Inc. is looking for a talented Release Train Engineer to support the VA Product Line Release Train Engineer, Release Manager and Configuration Manager in all activities cross-functionally.

At Adaptivestack Technologies, a Release Train Engineer’s support will span across the product line and provide support for strategic alignment, policy and procedure adherence, provide guidance and lead the efforts for process improvements, support release management activities and configuration protocols, maintain release dashboards, provide input into communications from multiple channels pertaining to release activities, and support the governance and oversight of all product line releases across the multiple integration lines.

This role will work with technical SME’s, Scrum Masters, PM’s, and other key stakeholders in helping to manage, facilitate, coordinate, and guide the various teams throughout the release process from the lower environments all the way up to production.

A Release Train Engineer is responsible for the configuration management (CM) of developmental and operational systems. Works on developmental and operational teams to create and maintain configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.) supporting developmental and operational systems. They must be organized, technically sound and credible, and a flexible team player with a hands-on problem solving skills.

The Release Train Engineer must demonstrate the ability to work within a fast-paced and collaborative environment, and must have excellent skills in building relationships, communicating effectively, and serving the needs of others. Most importantly, the Release Manager is responsive and has a propensity to get things done.

Experience Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of relevant experience, and 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Primary Activities:

  • Knowledge and experience working in the VA Healthcare IT space
  • Experience with release management and configuration management
  • Manage Agile delivery model, whether Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean Kanban, DevSecOps, or other iterative development approaches
  • Strong program management, governance, oversight, and reporting capabilities
  • Strong analytical and time management skills to support competing priorities, data calls, and ongoing progress reports
  • Understanding of the VA Healthcare IT systems/products/processes
  • Ability to understand, document, and recommend technical management approaches on projects
  • Expertise in managing parallel projects under a complex program while also providing program level support cross‐functionally
  • Experience with creating a strategic roadmap, with alignment to goals and operations plans
  • Meet and exceed performance metrics, AQLs, and report progress with justification, recommendations, and an innovative approach
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer concerns if/when they arise and identify appropriate resolutions to achieve client satisfaction in a timely manner
  • Provide leadership and direction to direct reports, clients, key stakeholders, and executive leadership
  • Improve product line performance through automation, continuous integration pipelines, and other means
  • Understand existing processes and identify how to improve and streamline them to improve team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide support for product teams as it relates to automation, CI/CD, and DevOps and/or DevSecOps
  • Manage and coordinate process requirements across various projects
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing, managing, and reporting key Product Line execution status and metrics across all aspects of the Agile product development lifecycle
  • Responsible to support communications, program baseline support, strategic planning and analysis, data collection, quality reviews, risk management, scheduling, and overall management of supporting sub‐product line
  • Monitor, track, and provide client reports on project schedule, work plan, risks, and budget to ensure the project meets targeted dates and goals
  • Ensure capture and monitor action items status, produce, and communicate meeting minutes and drive action to their proper resolution or conclusion
  • Identify and manage risks and issues impacting the progress and outcome of the sub‐product line
  • Provide in‐depth reporting support and take ownership of the status reporting and preparation of detailed updates that go to Senior Leadership
  • Support fast turnaround requests for data calls and be able to understand the ask and request data from the appropriate program resource
  • Experience in all areas of the software development life cycle

Preferred Skills:

  • Agile certification(s) such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Agilists (SA) or SAFe Practitioner. (SP), SAFe Advanced Scrum Masters (SASM), and SAFe Professional Consultants (SPC)
  • Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
  • VA‐specific project management experience (Highly Preferred)
  • Proficient with MS Office, MS SharePoint, MS Teams (Highly Preferred)
  • Project Management Professional – PMP Certified (Highly Preferred)
  • Demonstrated hands‐on experience in DevOps environment (Preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, as well as provide program level support cross‐functionally (Preferred)
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma and LEAN principles and processes
  • HealthShare/Health Connect understanding
  • VA VistA, VPR, REST API understanding
  • Familiarity with InterSystems products such as (Cache, IRIS, FHIR ODS, HS, HC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Experience supporting Federal clients
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs
