About The Group

The Tech Strategy Group is an innovative team at the College Board consisting of 8-10 engineers focused on delivering the best tools, platforms, and services to our stakeholders. We are the heart of all our applications supporting both internal and external initiatives. This includes in-house software to serve other teams and external product releases like the authentication for our new Digital SAT platform. We have quickly transformed into an Agile organization, embracing DevOps and cloud-native systems. About The Opportunity

As a Lead Engineer, you will build relationships with stakeholders, including customers, product managers, cross-functional partners, and external partners to deliver new and enhanced features to a wide range of products and services. To be successful in this role, you will contribute to defining the strategic direction, planning the roadmap, escalating issues, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success. There are several teams working in this space allowing each engineer the opportunity to work on a variety of different products and platforms.

What You’ll Do
  • Using the latest AWS Cloud technologies, you will design and implement high-quality solutions in support of both internal and external facing customers.
  • You will work with product owners, architects, and various stakeholders to design these solutions to the highest engineering standards.
  • You will lead, guide, and mentor team members to successfully implement these solutions.
  • You will build solutions using the best practices of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Build strong work management and coordination efforts across multiple teams
  • Contribute as a collaborative member of a fast-paced, highly skilled engineering team.


You Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional software development and design experience, with at least 3 years of Cloud development experience using Node.js.
  • Experience building event-driven Cloud based serverless applications (AWS preferred).
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals i.e., design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and database design.
  • Experience with version control using Git, building automation using Webpack, continuous integration using AWS Code Pipeline (or similar), and some test automation familiarity.
  • Strong Linux based operating system experience.
  • Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - working cross-functionally with other engineers and stakeholders to deliver cutting edge solutions.
