POSITION PURPOSE

Individuals within the Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer role deliver automated solutions for software processes. Plans, organizes, coordinates and tracks testing activities to ensure the successful deployment of projects. Uses technical skills, expertise and application knowledge to support clients, developers and testers. Provides knowledge transfer and training to the test team as needed. Performs or participates in various types of testing and post implementation reviews as determined by the project. Helps to ensure continuous improvement in Quality Assurance processes. A QA engineer is expected to:
  • Identify opportunities for inserting more quality within software processes.
  • Design and execute QA tests.
  • Run tests for databases, systems, networks, applications, hardware and software.
  • Identify bugs and quality issues in development, service or business processes.
  • Collaborate with other business units to understand the business and ensure their quality needs are being met. QA Engineers also interact with various development teams, project managers, internal and external customers, senior management, and external vendors. Members of this role understand how to create and execute functional testing so that they can support and enable key business processes. They must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment, and strong analytical and communication skills. Individuals must work well within a team environment. Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management requiraed or four years of related work experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
  • Report and document defects found during testing and work across functional teams to resolve defects.
Work Experience
  • 5 years of quality assurance related work experience which could include experience in the following areas:Professional systems or programming background.Database technologies and SQL.Automated testing experience, including planning and conducting functional and performance testing, preferred.Testing web, client-server, infrastructure, Business process, or mainframe applications.Testing systems installation and maintenance.Automated testing tools and QA methodologies, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft TFS/ Azure DevOps, preferred.
Skills And Abilities
  • Must have demonstrated ability to analyze and solve logical problems such as those found in mathematics, statistics, etc.
  • Certifications in software quality, or technical equivalent, preferred.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Work Complexity:Works on medium complex and cross-functional solutions. Works multiple projects as a team member.
  • Business Requirements:Works with project team and BA to understand customer needs.
  • Project/ Work Planning:Participates in or supports workstream planning process.
  • Develop & Implement: Collects, analyzes, and shares test data to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience, and business results.Performs testing validations, capture test cases, coordinate automated testing and report outcomes.Develops and tests solutions such as databases, queries, views, reports, and dashboards.Documents new and existing test strategies, solutions, and implementations.Conduct defect triage meetings while using reporting and analysis tools that help streamline the business and make reporting, analyzing, planning, and forecasting more efficient.Provides testing estimation to project team.Works with users and other testing groups to create and implement the test plan.
  • Production Support: Leads the effort to troubleshoots defects and or enhancements to systems and software.Tracks performance and production issues.Escalates production issues as appropriate.Supports users during post-implementation testing.
  • Quality Assurance:Ensures the code and tests are within required quality standards.Manages the defect triage meeting.Reports test/quality status and test results to all stakeholders for projects.Reports defects in the defect system and ensures the defects are tracked, retested, and closed in a timely manner.Coordinates with different testing groups, including users, to ensure testing is complete and thorough.
  • Training:May train users to create test scenarios and provide guidance in testing and to use that information correctly.
  • Process, Policies & Standards:Adheres to process, policies, and standards.Ensures Enterprise QA standards and processes are maintained.
  • Customer service: Keeps customer and project team informed about any quality issues.Tracks and reports out on issues and enhancement request for the business in a timely manner.
  • Research/Evaluation:Analyzes and tests new releases/versions of software.May participate in vendor evaluations.

  • Quality Assurance: Utilizes multiple approaches to quality assurance and testing. Demonstrates working knowledge of tools used in the development of test plans. Documents outcomes and reviews with stakeholders, demonstrating an understanding of the relationship between test plan construction and fulfilling customer expectations
