The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing and deployment of custom workflows and scripts within the cloud infrastructure that can be used for integration, deployment, monitoring, compliance, or other routine tasks. A Site Reliability Engineer must be able to build, monitor, and manage the Cloud infrastructure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with implementation of standardized offerings, with the help of senior colleagues
Continuous build, test, integration, and deployment platforms and pipelines
Repositories & registries for build/deployment artifacts
Automated testing frameworks for applications and infrastructure
Assists senior colleague with implementation of standardized offerings to facilitate operational health of stacks throughout their lifecycle:
Metrics collection
Log collection
Event management and routing
Inventory, capacity, and billing/tag management
Can assist with providing inputs for the development of standardized offerings
Operates managed service platform and collaborates with internal service teams for infrastructure and application deployments
Uses tools to perform proactive monitoring of system and server health, analyze trends to prevent incidents
Responds, troubleshoots operational issues and resolve production alerts
Pair application teams and assist senior colleague with implementation of:
Continuous testing and delivery practices
Standard practices that ensure their operational health & excellence
Assist with support of Cloud team products and legacy applications not operating in a full-stack operating model
Implements the collection of metrics and generation of relevant reporting mechanisms
Implements continuous delivery and full-stack operations communities of practices across the Cloud COE
Educates Cloud COE and Development teams
Educates team to design and implement based on CloudOps practices
Experience
Skills/Knowledge
Familiar with / basic understanding of working in an Agile/Scrum
Familiar with / basic knowledge of Cloud computing technologies
Familiarity with AWS Well Architected Framework and Cloud migration industry standards and best practices
Basic knowledge of continuous integration and deployment technologies
Basic experience with test-driven development frameworks for application and infrastructure code
Some experience with infrastructure-as-a-service platforms
Possess the fundamental knowledge in these areas: Sys admin in using OS platform (Linux/Unix);
Firm grasp of networking fundamentals such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP etc; Experience with relational database system (Sql Server, MySql, Postgresql)
Basic experience with tooling to support monitoring, telemetry, logging, and reporting/dashboarding, and continuous delivery technologies
Knowledge of networks (routing, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, etc.)
Experience with enterprise monitoring tools

Basic knowledge of configuration management and automation tools such as: Chef, Puppet, and Ansible

Understanding of automation practices throughout the development, build, and deployment phases of the application life cycle
Experience in building large distributed systems
Experience in supporting highly available applications
Maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery processes
Ability to think outside the box
Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
Ability to take "ownership" with high sense of urgency and work like an "entrepreneur"
